Six million teachers, one new AI lesson a month
Google opened free AI training aimed at every school and university teacher in the US. The striking part is not the number, but the rhythm of one lesson a month.
Google has decided to bring AI right to the teacher's desk, across the United States.
The programme is called the Google AI Educator Series, free training aimed at all 6 million school and university teachers in the US. It launched in May with more than 20 sessions, each lesson only 10 to 15 minutes to earn a certificate.
But what caught my attention most is not the figure of 6 million. From the start of September, on the first Wednesday of every month, another AI module appears for teachers.
I read it and paused. Because a rhythm of one lesson a month means learning AI is no longer a course you take once and finish, but a habit being fed steadily.
We tend to think AI is a matter for working adults. But in many places a third-grader is now guided by their teacher to use AI as naturally as holding a pen. And our own children, and we ourselves, where are we starting from?
At CoreU we believe AI is not a race belonging to anyone in particular. It is a journey a whole family can take together, and the earlier you begin the steadier the steps.
And you, have you let your child, and yourself, touch AI yet?
